HAAGSMA AND GUTHRIE POST TWO MORE WINS!

Lynden, Washington (July 16, 2013) – The 2013 WORCS Season got back to business after a two-month “summer break” at Round #6 at Pala Raceway in Pala, CA. With a mix of doubles and table tops in the motocross section and a rock-filled and dusty off-road section the Pala track was ready to test the over 50 Side x Sides that showed up to race.
In Pro Production, current points leader, Holz Racing Product’s Beau Baron and his #549 HRP/Polaris/Maxxis RZR XP 900 pulled a holeshot while teammate RJ Anderson and his #37 Walker Evans/ Polaris/Loanmart/HRP slotted into third spot. At the end of lap one, Beau had parked his machine with a broken ball joint and RJ had moved into the number 1 position. With a steady pace, RJ continued to stretch out a lead until lap four when he suffered the same ball joint failure. “This wasn’t the day we were looking for. We had a great start — with Beau out front we were looking to settle in and repeat Rd# 5. It’s a bummer to have a simple part fail and take you out – but we’ll be back.” said RJ Anderson. The HRP Pro Production drivers will be back and ready to go at Glen Helen where Beau Baron and RJ will look to put on another battle.
In Production 1000, after an endo in practice and a little repair work to the RZR XP, there would be no stopping Mitch Guthrie, Jr. and his #751 Guthrie Racing/HRP Polaris RZR XP 900. Mitch ran a solid race posting the fastest lap at 8:54.392, an elapsed time of 53:43.993 and winning by almost 2:30 minutes over second place. Mitch has won 5 of 6 this season and with three rounds remaining has a 48 point lead.
Moving on to the SXS Production 700 class, David Haagsma took his #422 Curtis Sparks powered, Holz equipped Polaris RZR 570 back to the podium, scoring his fifth win in a row. Haagsma defines dominance in the class and was rewarded by taking the points lead with this win. He finished the five lap race in 44:58.725. Teammate Michael Bunyea suffered a mechanical but remains in second place in series points.
Walker Evans Racing’s own Brian MacLean, took a break from answering tech questions and threw on the helmet and firesuit and climbed into the Holz/Walker Evans RZR 570. New to the driving role at WORCS, MacLean battled back and forth with another first-time WORCS driver, UTVUnderground’s Joey DiGiovanni. MacLean ulti¬mately made the final pass stick on a jump section and rounded out the third spot on the podium.
“It’s great to be back out here at the WORCS races. The break gave everyone some down time to test and tune and now we are ready to finish out the season. Three rounds to go and plenty of good racing action ahead of us.” said Mark Holz.
The HRP UTV Racers will be ready to do battle for next round of WORCS Series August 10th at Glen Helen in Devore, CA, the Coastal GNCC team are off til October, while Mark Holz and Scott Kiger’s Coastal/Holz RZR XP are finishing up prep for the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno on August 18th.
